Armageddon Code of Conduct
The Event Staff of Armageddon are committed to ensuring a fun, safe, and respectful Armageddon for all attendees. To achieve this, all attendees must refrain from actions limiting or threatening another individual’s safe enjoyment of the event.
This Code of Conduct applies to all attendees of Armageddon, including participants, guests, volunteers, and Event Staff. No one is excluded from adhering to the Code of Conduct.
Armageddon, its Event Staff, and attendees will not discriminate against other attendees due to race, ethnicity, sex, gender identity, age, lifestyle, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, or disability status.
Armageddon retains the right to refuse participation in simulated combat to members with medical conditions that would pose a safety risk to themselves or other members. The risk is to be determined by the head marshal of the event. This ruling shall apply only to simulated combat and will not bar any person from any other aspect of participation.
In conjunction with the Belegarth Code of Ethical Guidelines and Membership Bylaws, this Code of Conduct will be used when considering all disciplinary action against any individual found in breach of the Code of Conduct, site rules, or state/federal law during Armageddon.
Harassment and Assault
Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. If your behaviour negatively affects another attendee, you will be asked to stop. Failure to comply with this request may result in further disciplinary action. Additionally, if your behaviour has made another attendee fear for their safety, you may be removed from the event at the discretion of Armageddon Event Staff.
Harassment may include, but is not limited to:
Offensive verbal comments concerning race, ethnicity, sex, national origin, religion, disability status, relationship status, gender identity, physical appearance, or body size.
Deliberate intimidation of another attendee.
Deliberate and repeated misgendering.
Following or stalking another attendee.
Unwelcome verbal conduct of a sexual nature.
Pressuring someone to drink alcohol.
Threats of violence.
Sustained camp/event disruption.
Armageddon will observe a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY towards any attendee who physically or sexually assaults other attendees. Assault will result in immediate removal from the event at the discretion of Armageddon Event Staff.
Assault may include, but is not limited to:
Physical assault/battery.
Unwanted or inappropriate physical contact, particularly of a sexual nature.
Breaching of consent - someone not taking “NO” for an answer.
Consent
Consent is essential. Consent is required. Consent is MANDATORY. Informed, enthusiastic consent is required for any activity, sexual or otherwise, taking place at Armageddon.
When intoxicated, an individual cannot legally consent.
Unconscious individuals cannot legally consent.
A person can withdraw consent at any moment for any reason.
Just because a person has consented in the past does not mean that they consent to any future act.
No means NO. “F*** off” means NO, “I’m not sure” means NO, “I’m uncomfortable” means NO, “Don’t touch me” means NO, “Stop” means NO, “I'm not interested” means NO.
Racism and Hate Speech
Attendees of Armageddon are expected to comply with the Belegarth bylaws during the event and while on site. This includes 13.2.6. (Participants shall)
Create an environment that is welcoming and inclusive of all persons regardless of race, colour, sex, gender identity, age, lifestyle, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, mental or physical ability, or socioeconomic status.
Armageddon strictly prohibits racism and hate speech towards any persons or groups promoting and/or practising animosity, degeneration, harm, or enslavement of other groups of human beings, especially on immutable characteristics. Examples include White Supremacists, Neo-Nazis, the KKK, and other hate groups listed by the SPLC.
Reported instances of racism and/or hate speech will be treated in the same manner as reported instances of harassment. Armageddon does not welcome anyone who considers themselves a member of any hate groups listed by the SPLC.
Reporting an Attendee for Harassment/Assault/Racism/Hate Speech at Armageddon
Anyone can report an attendee for Harassment/Assault/Racism/Hate Speech.
We encourage attendees to report Harassment, Assault, Racism, and hate Speech on behalf of themselves and other attendees of the event if necessary. Please confirm with the person you believe may be being harassed before reporting.
Find a member of the Armageddon Event Staff or a BMCS Board of Directors member and explain your concerns. Provide as much information and details as possible.
Procedure for Handling Reports of Harassment/Assault/Racism/Hate Speech
The Event Staff of Armageddon and the BMCS Board of Directors are dedicated to creating a fair and expedient means of dealing with all reports brought to our attention. All attendees can share their version of events before the Event Staff takes action.
After all the information regarding an incident is collected, the Event Staff will decide on disciplinary action if necessary. All reports will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
Disciplinary action may include the following, depending on the severity of the incident:
Mediation between involved parties.
Moving individuals or groups to a different campsite.
Removal from the fighting field for a day.
Removal from nightlife activities.
Removal from Armageddon.
If disciplinary action is taken against an individual, including removal from Armageddon, the Event Staff will report this to the Belegarth War Council per the Belegarth Bylaws Section 13.3.
Ban from attending future Armageddon events.
Medical Emergencies
Armageddon does not employ any Event Medics.
In the case of a medical emergency, call 911 or seek out immediate professional medical attention.
After you have called 911, please inform Event Staff that Emergency Personnel is on route to the event.
Do not leave someone with an emergency alone. Instead, instruct someone close by to track down Event Staff.
Reporting Safety Concerns
Should you witness a safety concern, please inform the nearest member of the Event Staff so that they may address the safety issue.
Safety Concerns may include but are not limited to:
Underage Drinking
Unsafe Fighting
Downed Electrical Wire
Suspicious Packages or Objects
Fallen Trees
Fire where there should not be a fire
If an incident reported to Event Staff involves a violation of any local, state, or federal laws, Event Staff may, at their discretion, report the incident to the police.
